Below summary of details and conditions for vehicle hire from Matt Snowball Music.

To secure and confirm your booking we require a standard deposit of £500.00 + 20% VAT to be paid on credit/debit card. You can also pay the deposit via transfer, cheque or cash but card is preferable. The deposit is required as insurance against vehicle damage and deposits are “usually” returned within 3 working days of the safe return of the vehicle. Full payment by credit/debit card, bank transfer, cheque or cash must be received in advance or on collection of the vehicle.

Drivers must be 23 or over but under 70 and have held a licence longer than 2 years. Drivers must also have no more than 6 points in the last 5 years or have any convictions for drink driving or driving without insurance. If drivers do not meet these requirements they can be referred to our insurers, time and circumstances permitting. Insurers may increase the excess resulting in a larger deposit being required. If a driver wishes to be referred they must complete and sign a separate insurance referral form. Our insurers accept the following foreign Licences: EU, USA, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, and South African. Copies of all drivers licences must be taken before or on collection of vehicle. If you have a UK photo card licence you must also produce your paper counterpart. If possible please scan and email all licences in advance.

We prefer it if you can collect the vehicle from our office on Brewery road. However, we can sometimes arrange for you to collect the vehicle from our West London, Park Royal warehouse. Alternatively, we can deliver and collect it to/from you, approximate cost of delivery/collection within London is £55.00 +VAT. The vehicle must be returned to Brewery road within office hours unless previously agreed. We do now have an out of hours return facility with a secure key drop and 24 hour CCTV security monitoring. However, we only have limited parking spaces available, please check with the Transport manager in advance of your return.

Yes you can take the vehicle out of the UK and in to Europe but you must let us know in advance so we can arrange the Green card insurance. ehicles travelling outside of the UK and in to Europe require an insurance Green Card, admin cost: £30.00 + VAT for every two weeks (minimum £30.00 + VAT per trip). All MSM vehicles are fully covered by RAC breakdown / relay for both the UK and the rest of Europe. Satelite Navigation systems for both UK and Europe are available to hire at £5.00 + 20% VAT per day subject to availability, please order in advance.

It is the hirer’s resposibility to pay for vehicle damage including damaged windows, tyres and interior fittings up to a total of £500.00 + 20% VAT It is the hirer’s resposibility to pay for all parking and traffic fines. For further information please read the below hirer’s responsibilities.



1. Traffic Ticket/Offences:
a) Red Route Offences
Any unpaid charge referred to MSM will be passed onto the hirer with a £20 admin fee added.
b) Bus Lane Offences
Any unpaid charge referred to MSM will be passed onto the hirer with a £20 admin fee added.
c) Parking / Speeding Tickets
The Hirer(s) agree(s) to take full responsibility for these whilst the vehicle is in their possession. The hirer’s details will be passed onto the appropriate authority.
d) Any traffic offence outside the UK
Any charges referred to MSM will be passed onto the hirer with a £30 admin fee added.

2. Traffic Accidents
Any accident involving a third party is to be notified immediately to MSM. Liability is not to be admitted or discussed with any third party. The hirer must provide the third party and/or any law enforcement officers with the driver’s details, the company’s name and address, and the company’s Insurance Policy Number. The hirer must take the third party’s details and pass them onto the company.

3. £500 + 20% VAT Deposit
The deposit is held/charged against the following:
a) Regarding the hire vehicle: The first £500 of:

  • All loss / damage to bodywork / glass / interior / vehicle structure / fittings / spare wheel / supplied tools etc
  • Loss / damage to audio/visual/WiFi/Playstation equipment
  • Tyre damage (wear and tear excepted)

b) Regarding 3rd parties:
The first £500 of all damage / injury to third parties and their vehicles
c) Late return of hired vehicle
(see below)
d) Return of the vehicle in a condition requiring an unusual amount of cleaning/ valeting.

4. Breakdown
In the event of a breakdown, the company will endeavour to offer assistance with the arrangements for vehicle repair, and will endeavour within reason and at its absolute discretion to provide a replacement vehicle if the hired vehicle is unusable for an extended period of time. The company’s financial liability shall extend only to a refund of vehicle hire fee for the time over which the vehicle is unusable. No liability whatsoever is accepted for consequential losses or inconvenience of any kind.

5. Breakdown cover
All MSM vehicles are fully covered by the RAC for use both within the UK and the rest of Europe. The hirer may be charged for inappropriate use of breakdown cover. Please check with our office if in doubt.

6. Incorrect Fuel
The hired vehicle’s fuel type will be clearly marked. If in doubt please check with the company. The company will be entitled to charge the hirer all costs resulting from filling with inappropriate fuel.

7. Engine / Mechanical Damage
The hirer will be responsible for all costs relating to the following: a) Failure to maintain correct oil and water levels b) Incorrect fuel c) Continuing to drive whilst there is an obvious problem.

8. Travel Outside the UK
The hirer is responsible for providing accessories that may be required by foreign countries, such as warning triangle, spare bulb kits etc. However, most of our vehicles do already have the necessary kit. Please check on collection.

9. Late Return
The vehicle is due back at MSM by 10 am prompt on the return day, unless otherwise agreed. Late return may result in an extra day’s hire being charged.

10. Out-Of-Hours Return
It may be possible to return the vehicle out of hours but ONLY if previously agreed, please check with the Transport Manager in advance of your return.
